How to Take Advantage of the Energy Tax Credit
Purchase qualifying Weather Shield windows or doors that have a U-Factor and SHGC of 0.30 or lower.
The credit is equal to 30% of the investment with the aggregate amount not to exceed $1,500 for during the two taxable years.
Purchase and installation of qualifying products must occur between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010.
The purchase of the qualified windows must be made during the taxable year for which the credit is being claimed.
The credit is allowed only for the price of the qualifying windows and doors. Installation and sales tax are excluded.
Claim the corresponding tax credit for your purchase on you Federal taxes for either the 2009 and/or the 2010 tax year.
Retain your sales receipt and the NFRC/ENERGY STAR® label for each window and door unit you purchase and keep for tax filing purposes.
The credit is only available on home improvements (not new construction).
